Privacy notice

How theseeus.eu handles personal data: no cookies, no analytics, hosting logs, and your rights under the GDPR.

This notice describes how theseeus.eu processes personal data. It is written to meet GDPR Article 13 in substance. It is not legal advice.

Controller

⚠️ VERIFY The operator has not yet published a name, postal address or contact email. Until that identity is filled in src/copy/legal.ts, treat this page as a template and use the legal notice for the current status.

What this site does not do

  • No advertising, no marketing, no newsletter, no contact form.
  • No cookies and no third-party scripts, fonts or analytics.
  • No device fingerprinting and no tracking pixels.

The site is intended to stay in the consent-free zone under ePrivacy Article 5(3): nothing is stored on your device except where you explicitly choose a colour scheme (see below).

Purposes and legal bases

Serving the public website

The site is a static explainer. Your browser requests HTML, CSS, fonts and scripts from the host. The legal basis is legitimate interest (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)) in publishing a public-interest reference, and — once a controller identity is published — performance of that information society service.

Security logging

The hosting platform may record connection data (IP address, user-agent, requested path, time) in server or edge logs to operate the service, detect abuse and investigate incidents. IPs are personal data. The legal basis is legitimate interest in securing the site (Art. 6(1)(f)).

Colour scheme preference

If you use the theme toggle, the site stores theme=light or theme=dark in localStorage. That write is initiated by you, is limited to the display preference, and is treated as strictly necessary to honour that choice. You can clear it in the browser. The search shortcut can be disabled the same way (see the accessibility statement).

Processors

Hosting is with Scaleway, region nl-ams (Amsterdam, Netherlands) ( https://www.scaleway.com/ ). TLS termination sits in front of a container that serves static files. No other processors are used for analytics, fonts, tags or error tracking.

⚠️ VERIFY Confirm the actual log-retention setting at the host and any CDN or WAF in front of it. The intended retention for connection logs is 7–30 days, after which they should be deleted or irreversibly anonymised.

Transfers outside the EEA

The production container is specified for an EU region. This site does not load Google Fonts, analytics beacons or other third-country tags. If that changes, this notice will change first.

Retention

  • Static pages are public and not tied to an account.
  • Theme preference stays in your browser until you clear site data.
  • Security logs: 7–30 days (see the VERIFY note above).

Your rights

You may request access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and data portability where GDPR provides those rights. You may lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority — typically the authority in your Member State of residence, or the authority of the controller’s establishment once published. A directory is at edpb.europa.eu.
